Research Presentation: Human Evolution + Climbing

Does size matter when climbing?

Come hear about climbing fatigue in rock climbers + its implications for human evolution. Elaine Kozma, a PhD candidate in evolutionary anthropology at the City University of New York, will talk about a study she conducted at the Cliffs over the summer.

Elaine studies climbing performance in rock climbers, indigenous tree climbers, and wild chimpanzees and gorillas. She will discuss whether body size and proportions affect how fast climbers fatigue.
