REEL ROCK Fest events kick off with athlete-led clinics designed to up your game and fuel your stoke. Climb with your heroes from the big screen, get professional beta, and ask questions you’ve always wanted answered. Each participant receives a REEL ROCK stamped Yeti Rambler.

Savannah Cummins: “Photography Clinic: Better Than Butt Shots”

Learn the basics of jugging, shooting on a rope, and anchor building. This is not a technical photography clinic focused on camera techniques but rather a class on how to use climbing equipment to take your photography to new heights. 

Skill Level / Equipment Needed: 
Must know how to use a Grigri. Please bring your own Grigri, + two locker carabiners and two non-locking carabiners, harness and close toed shoes (approach shoes or trail running shoes are best!) Feel free to bring your camera as well! 

MUST BE 14+ YEARS OLD & BELAY CERTIFIED.

Conrad Anker: “The Importance of Warming Up”

Somebody once said, "The worst part of about climbing is not climbing." We get it. Who doesn't want to b-line right to their project and start hacking away for the send? Conrad Anker will explain the importance of getting warmed before slaying your project. 

Skill Level / Equipment Needed: 
Beginner to Intermediate, no special equipment required. 

Darren Skolnik: “Speed Climbing 101”

Come learn all the ins and outs of speed climbing! Darren Skolnik will go over everything from the history of the discipline, to beta, how to warm up + train, and mental techniques for the race. Join us for the clinic, and stay for the Community Speed Comp later on!  
 
Skill Level / Equipment Needed:  
Recommended for intermediate climbers (projecting 5.10/5.11).  Speed climbing routes are rated at 5.10b - so be prepared!

Cedar Wright: “Sessions with Cedar”

Benefit from coaching and tips, and enjoy a supportive and fun bouldering session where you’re encouraged to pick Cedar’s brain about climbing, filmmaking, and his very cute mini-dogs.

TRY SPEED CLIMBING

4PM - 7PM

Okay, so perhaps you think speed climbing is weird. But wait ’til you get on the route and race your climbing partner! Talk about addictive and fun! We’ll set two side by side lanes, near replicas of the ten-meter Olympic route, using the official holds. We’ll even have two On Point timing systems installed so you can smack the red buzzer at the top. Racers ready! 3, 2, 1…


TEAM SPEED COMP

7:30PM - 9PM

Teams of four compete on The Cliffs’ speed route in a head-to-head relay race! Form a team and go as fast as you can to win sweet prizes from The North Face. Climb side by side with your competitor. The winning team advances to the next round; losing team is released to drink free Upslope beer and heckle.

$20 per team of four. Includes a day pass to The Cliffs!


AFTERPARTY

9PM - MIDNIGHT

This is not one to be missed! Party with the athletes at The Cliffs Afterparty, featuring a live DJ, Xtreme Soccer, free beer and lots of sweet raffle prizes. The party is BYORC (bring your own reusable cup) or buy one from The Cliffs.

Raffle ticket sales + proceeds from Cliffs cups will be donated to Access Fund.
